On the night of Christmas Eve, Becky Harris' boyfriend ran his hands through her hair and a huge chunk of hair came out. She realized the severity of the situation when she ran to her mother and saw the expression of her hair.
Becky was 17 years old when she was diagnosed with Alopecia, an autoimmune skin disease which causes hair to fall out.
For nine years she struggled in hiding the bald spots by putting on hairstyles. She also went through the process of getting cortisone shots to control her hair loss.
Nine years after, she has decided to take things under her control. No longer letting her situation get in the way. Along with her hair stylist, her boyfriend, she's taken the step of shaving her head and wear wigs.
It was emotional but in the end, she never felt so comfortable and had wished she could have done it earlier.
