Rihanna Chris Brown 2009 Assault Story Inspire Next 'Law & Order: SVU' (WATCH PREVIEW VIDEO)
In a storyline ripped straight from the headlines, Law & Order: SVU will air an episode reportedly inspired by Chris Brown's 2009 assault on Rihanna.
The Feb. 27 episode, titled My Funny Valentine, features an actress portraying a female pop star who is victimized by her abusive boyfriend. NBC said it will be about "a promising singer is brutally attacked by her boyfriend, a popular hip-hop star."
In the preview clip released a week before the full episode will air, a female singer is assaulted by her star boyfriend who wears baseball caps. As the Special Victims Unit work on gathering clues to help arrest him, the female singer refuses to help them build their case against him because she wants to stay in the relationship. The singer's refusal to help turns into a "media circus" because the two singers are famous.
That is the only part of the episode that was inspired by the infamous assault- later, the assault victim is found dead.
There will be several celebrity guest appearances in My Funny Valentine including daytime talk show host Wendy Williams, rock musician Dave Navarro and celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton.
Brown assaulted Rihanna in 2009 on the eve of the Grammys held in Los Angeles. The Bajan beauty was 20 at the time and sustained visible injuries. Brown, who was 19, turned himself in. He later pleaded guilty on a felony charge and was ordered to serve 200 hours of community service.
Brown's probation may be revoked due to claims earlier in February that he allegedly submitted falsified documents about the 200 hours of community service he was ordered to complete. Rihanna, who confirmed this month that they are in a relationship again, went with Brown to court to address the issues surrounding his completion of community service. Rihanna's show of support was considered shocking in reports. At one point, Rihanna was seen blowing him a kiss in the courtroom.
Brown's next court date is scheduled for April 5.
The Law & Order SVU episode is set to air Feb. 27 at 9 p.m. (EST) on NBC.
