Amy Winehouse's dad slammed fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier after the designer debuted a collection inspired by his late daughter.

According to the Press Association, Mitch Winehouse and his family were shocked after seeing saw photos from the Gaultier's Paris Fashion Week show.

"We're still grieving for her loss, and we've had a difficult week with the six month anniversary of Amy's death," said Mitch Winehouse. "To see her image lifted wholesale to sell clothes was a wrench we were not expecting or consulted on."

Models in Gaultier's show rocked beehives, smoked cigarettes, and sported thick winged eyeliner, all of which made up the singer's signature look.

The models also wore black veils as strutted down the runway for the finale.

While Mitch Winehouse understands the role his daughter played in music and fashion, he believes Gaultier took advantage of Amy's death.

"It portrays a view of Amy when she was not at her best and glamorizes some of the more upsetting times in her life," he said. "That's upsetting for her family."

Gaultier admits to never meeting the Grammy-winning singer, but felt their "styles had always been similar".

Amy Winehouse, who battled drug and alcohol addictions, died last year at the age of 27.
