For Katie Holmes, the Internet is one very ugly place. The Hollywood actress recently opened up about all of the negativity and hatred she sees online and why people are too quick to judge whenever they are on the other side of a computer screen.

According to Xpose on Wednesday, the 37-year-old actress opened up about social media and how her bipolar character Carla in the upcoming film Touched With Fire changed her perspective when it comes to what she see's online.
She said, "I gained a greater empathy for people who are struggling with mental illness. Before the movie, I'd hear something about it and think, 'Wow. But that's over there."
The single celebrity mom, who shares her daughter Suri Cruise with ex-husband Tom Cruise, said that when it comes to social media networks like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, nothing is as pretty as it seems.
She added, ''Unfortunately, we're quick to judge, especially in this day of social media and the Internet - which I think is an ugly-maker. Everybody looks ugly when they're on the Internet. But I wouldn't want to live a flat life, with no pain.''
