This Sunday marks the 85th Academy Awards in Los Angeles, Ca. One of the categories getting a significant amount of attention is the contest for Best Actress. Unlike the competition for Best Actor, the respective female race seems to have a more intangibles to it, as Jennifer Lawrence and Jessica Chastain appear to be the favorites.

Lawrence of Silver Linings Playbook is clearly a heavy favorite for the coveted crown. She may very well be the frontrunner to land the award after what Collider calls a "charismatic and touching performance."

However, Chastain is undoubtedly in the running after her performance in the blockbuster Zero Dark Thirty. The easy on the eyes redhead delivered a captivating performance that was "visceral, layered and powerful work" as the CIA agent Maya, which was a difficult part to embody, considering the character had nearly no backstory.

A sleeper for the coveted award may be Quvenzhane Wallis, 6, of the Sundance hit Beasts of the Southern Wild. The years beyond her age actress turned heads with her performance as Hushpuppy, as she seemingly carries the whole film.
