Adele News 2016: ‘Hello’ Singer Snubbing The Oscars As Well? [VIDEO]
It looks like Adele is taking a cue from the rest of Hollywood and it making different plans for Oscar night. In fact, a new report says the mega chart-topper will be in Belfast rather than Hollywood for the upcoming Academy Awards in February.
According to RTE News on Monday, the "Hello" singer will be in the Northern Irish capital the night before a special concert to help kick off her upcoming world tour. It was rumored that she turned down a chance to present an award at the Oscar's because she wanted to be fully rested for her fans and didn't want to deal with the jet lag after a long flight from Los Angeles to Belfast.
This year's Oscars ceremony is taking place on Feb. 28; Adele's first concert in Belfast will be on Feb. 29. Still, it looks like she's being pressured to change her mind and present at the Oscars anyway.
Is Adele The Reason Why Taylor Swift Has Been So Quiet These Days? Some Fans Are Saying Yes
A source close to the singer said, "Organizers are desperate to get her and will still do anything to make it happen but she feels the turnaround is too tight and will not let anything jeopardizes her tour. She is aware things can go wrong which causes delays and also the potential impact of a long flight on her voice."
Despite the pressure, Adele isn't making any changes to her plans just yet.
The insider added, "She has dug her heels on this one. There were people on her team who think the Academy Awards is too big a deal to miss but Adele is in a league of her own in terms of fame and success. Amazingly, she doesn't really need it."
