Rumors have been aswirl about Cody Walker returning for Fast and Furious 8, but in a recent interview a Universal exec finally addressed the speculation.

A representative of Universal Pictures spoke to Polygon, revealing that the rumors were baseless. "There's no truth behind it," the rep said.

Cody stepped into help finish his deceased brother's character arc in Furious 7, playing a body double. But since then he has expressed interest in kickstarting his career in Hollywood and has actively been pursuing roles.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that he signed on for his first big Hollywood project after Furious 7. Cody is set to star in a Nicolas Cage film, USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage. This means Walker's younger brother is serious about his film career, and will carry on his older brother's legacy in Hollywood.

In fact, Cody has pretty clearly expressed his interest in joining the cast for Fast and Furious 8. New York Daily News had reported that the actor was looking for new roles in the movies. Cody's manager Matt Luber revealed that his career was in "its beginning stages" and that he was "open to all types of roles" right now.

The most interesting bit of information Luber gave away was that Cody might be keen on working in Fast and Furious 8 if the producers were interested in signing him on.

"I'm not sure if they are going to make an eighth movie, but if they did, I'm sure he would entertain a conversation (about a role)," he told NYDailyNews.

Now that Cody is legit, snagging his first big Hollywood project after Furious 7 maybe Vin Diesel will take notice and consider Paul's brother to fill the void left by the deceased actor. Also, the fact that Cody has bonded with the cast and crew of the Fast and Furious franchise should help his case.

Fast and Furious 8 will premiere on April 15, 2017.

Furious 7 hit theaters on April 3, 2015.
