In an interview with TVLine, Arrow showrunner Wendy Mericle revealed that Roy Harper's (Colton Haynes) return will be an emotional one but there are no assurances for how long.

A "really cool and emotional story" brings Roy "back into the fold, at least temporarily," she said.

According to the official synopsis of the next episode, titled Unchained, Roy will be coming back to Star City.

Here's the official synopsis for the episode:

"ROY HARPER RETURNS; NYSSA MAKES HER MOVE - The team faces off against a formidable villain nicknamed The Calculator (guest star Tom Amandes). Meanwhile, Nyssa (guest star Katrina Law) makes her move and Roy Harper (guest star Colton Haynes) returns to Star City. Kevin Fair directed the episode written by Speed Weed & Beth Schwartz."

In other recent news, a TVLine spoiler report has revealed that Nyssa al-Ghul (Katrina Law) will be on the warpath against Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) in this episode.

The report reveals that Nyssa is set to return in 'Unchained' and that she might even be enlisting Oliver to take Malcolm down. The show's executive producer Wendy Mericle dished about what lies ahead in this regard. She revealed that Nyssa "is going to take on Malcolm in a really ambitious and full-scale way, and she's going to be asking Oliver to do some pretty dark things."

The episode will air on Feb. 3 on The CW.
