It has been just more than a year since the Bobbi Kristina Brown tragedy sparked in her Roswell, Ga. home and now one of her closest friends and former roommates speaks out for one of the first times.

Mason Whitaker spoke with People magazine nearly one year after Brown was discovered unresponsive in her bathtub on Jan. 31. The incident ended in her untimely passing six months later.

“Not a day goes by that I don’t think about her and the amazing influence she had on my life. Her vibrant spirit will live on forever. It devastates me to think the world won’t be able to experience the amazing person she was. I have been thinking about her all day, every day recently because of the time.”

He said they had a special connection especially when it came to their favorite film The Hunger Games. He shared that he and Bobbi Kristina often did Katness Everdeen and Rue Brown’s whistle. It was sometimes a signal they used to let one another know they were awake or just wanted to talk. He was reminded of this just recently.

“I was watching it just the other day and when that part came on I broke out in tears. I kept doing that whistle in my empty house and just wanted Krissi to whistle back.”

He said that Bobbi Kristina was a very special person who was able to change your day “from the worst to the best.”

“I want so bad for the world to be able to experience her energy and soul brought to so many people’s lives.”
