Should Lady Gaga Come Back For Season 6 Of 'American Horror Story'?
Gaga showed off her massive pipes singing "The Star-Spangled Banner" Sunday night for hundreds of millions to see. But she's not stopping there. The pop superstar is performing the special Bowie tribute at the Grammys, honoring the legendary artist who died at the age of 69 on Jan. 10.
But what will Gaga be singing? Bowie has hundreds of great songs from his lengthy career, so there's plenty to choose from. We're guessing Gaga will perform some of Bowie's most well-known hits. Here are our top 5 picks for what she'll be performing at the Grammys.
Six Essential David Bowie Songs To Remember The Iconoclast
"Let's Dance"
Considering Gaga has made a career off her dance hits, "Let's Dance" seems like a fitting performance. One of Bowie's most popular singles, "Let's Dance" is a dramatic, groovy jam that is uniquely Bowie. Plus, the song's producer Niles Rodgers is directing the Bowie tribute, so we think "Let's Dance" will be included in the presumed medley.
"Rebel Rebel"
"Rebel Rebel" was a revolutionary song for its time, referencing gender-bending and, arguably, bisexuality. It too is one of Bowie's most well known rock songs, and considering Gaga's own career of gender-bending and rebellious attitude, this seems like a perfect fit to honor Bowie.
"Starman"
Taken from his legendary album, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust, "Starman" has received a lot of play recently. The song was featured prominently in the film The Martian and was also just heard in an Audi Super Bowl commercial. "Starman" is a wonderful encapsulation of Bowie's otherworldly talent, and Gaga has used similar imagery in her own music.
"Life on Mars?"
One of Bowie's most well crafted songs, "Life on Mars?" waxes philosophical on consumerism, particularly in regard to the world of entertainment. The song was recently ranked by The Telegraph as the best song of all time and was featured prominently in American Horror Story: Freak Show. Gaga herself has talked about consumerism and fame as well.
"Heroes"
"Heroes" was written during Bowie's notable Berlin era, conjuring the image of young lovers torn apart by the Berlin Wall. The song was also the most streamed song on Spotify in the wake of Bowie's death. It has become an anthem, a triumphant love song for the ages--one that could really bring home Gaga's tribute in a major way.
The Grammy Awards will air live on Monday, Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.
