DMX Collapse: Was Rapper's Near-Death Experience The Result Of Asthma Or Drugs? [POLL]
Reports are conflicting about what nearly caused rapper DMX to die last night, with cops claiming the rapper suffered from an overdose of drugs, which the rapper has denied.
The rapper, 45, reportedly collapsed in a Yonkers hotel parking lot Monday night and wasn't breathing and had no pulse by the time cops arrived on the scene, but reports are conflicted on whether or not his collapse was caused by an overdose or a prior medical condition.
According to police (via The Daily News), they found the rapper in a lifeless condition after a witness at the Ramada hotel's parking lot said they saw DMX consume an undisclosed powdery substance before he fell. The cops then confirm they gave him (without actually naming DMX for privacy laws) Narcan, which is used to combat narcotic drug overdoses, which brought him back from the brink of death, before rushing him to a hospital.
"This was an excellent job by the officers and then they definitely saved the life," Lt. Patrick McCormack told the paper. "They found him in a lifeless condition with no breathing. They were able to bring back some breathing."
However, in a statement to TMZ, the rapper denies having taken any powder or drugs, and only remembers having shortness of breath after battling bronchitis for a few days. A family member seemed to back up his claim by saying he asked for his inhaler, which he uses for asthma, before he fell unconscious.
