Tom Cruise's legal battle against In Touch and Life & Style publisher Bauer Publishing Company moved to private mediation which will keep the details of the lawsuit primarily out of the public's eye.

The change in the lawsuit comes from legal documents filed on March 1 in U.S. District Court in Central California, according to The Huffington Post.

Cruise originally started to sue both magazines for $50 million over published claims that he abandoned his young daughter Suri after her mom Katie Holmes filed for divorce.

Following the separation of the famous Hollywood couple, Life & Style published a story titled "Suri in Tears: Abandoned by Her Dad" and In Touch published "Abandoned By Daddy."

Bert Fields, attorney for Cruise, released a statement in October reported by TMZ that denounced the gossip:

"Tom is a caring father who dearly loves Suri. She's a vital part of his life and always will be. To say he has 'abandoned' her is a vicious lie. To say it in lurid headlines with a tearful picture of Suri is reprehensible."

Cruise's attorney defended his client saying that he speaks to his daughter every day. He also said the actor spends a great deal of time with Suri. Fields also said that any damages won in the case would be given to charity.

Bauer Publishing Co. countered with a statement in December saying that the stories about Cruise abandoning his six-year-old daughter were "substantially true," according to E! News. The company also defended the publications saying that they "do not assert verifiably false facts, and/or constitute rhetorical hyperbole or subjective statements of opinion."

Now the case will be settled in a private mediation out of the court that will prevent personal information from being taken from the decision between Cruise and the publishers.
