While speaking to VH1 on the red carpet at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards, the easy on the eyes actress was told by host Kate Spencer that she was one of her favorites for the part of Steele.
Bellisario was very appreciative and gave the following response to the host:
"That just makes my heart sing."
To top it off, the TV standout has also read the books, explaining that some of her costars were pushing it on her beforehand.
"Everyone on the set had to read it before me, and they were like Troian, Troian, just read it you'll like it," Bellisario said.
The actress went on to elaborate on the saucy role and gave her rationale behind being up for such a scandalous role.
"I think it would be terrifying. But if you're not doing terrifying things every day, you're not living," she said.
With her innocent features, lovely dark mane and pale skin, Bellasario could easily pull of the role. While she is a bit older than the 22-year-old Steele character at 27, she does have the youthful look to pull it off.
Some other notable actresses who have been mentioned in the competition for Steele include Pretty Little Liars' costar Lucy Hale, Felicity Jones of The Worst Witch, and Harry Potter's Emma Watson.
Although the producers have yet to attach a director to the franchise, the film is now slated for its big screen release in the summer of 2014.
