Beyonce to Get Hometown Monument
Beyonce already has tons of accolades, an uberly-successful singing career, acting career, clothing lines and perfumes and she's a new mom! But, now it seems Beyonce's star power is about to be set in stone.
Developers at Armdeonce Ventures are putting together plans to immortalize Beyonce in her hometown of Houston with a monument. The monument will feature a statue which will highlight the her life and showcase memorabilia from her career.
"Our biggest thing is a lot of people get honored when they die, so our goal is to why not honor people why they're still here?" Marcus Mitchell, CEO of Armdeonce Ventures, told My Fox Houston. "We felt as though it's her time to be honored. We wanted to construct ... a massive hall so as the doors open, if you donated to the monument, you'll have a separate nameplate.
"There will be clips of Beyonce with Destiny's Child and wardrobe like a mini-museum," he continued. "We've gotten support from the city of Houston, from the mayor."
Proceeds from the monument site will be donated to charity organizations, including Music for America and Beyonce's Survivor Foundation, which offers relief to victims of natural disasters.
Developers are hoping to unveil the monument on Beyonce's birthday, Sept. 4.
