'How to Get Away With Murder' Season 2 Spoilers: Showrunner Dishes About Annalise's Pregnancy [VIDEO]
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Pete Nowalk dished about the major twist in the latest episode of season 2 of How to Get Away With Murder.
Frank And Laurel To Become An Official Couple Going Forward?
In the midseason premiere, 'What Happened Annalise?,' it was revealed that Annalise (Viola Davis) had been pregnant 10 years ago and had also met Wes (Alfred Enoch) when he was a young boy with his mother. Nowalk revealed that this was a long time coming as Annalise had hinted at the possibility earlier on.
"Even back in the pilot, Annalise told Wes she and Sam [Tom Verica] were trying to have kids," Nowalk said. "That might've seemed like a lie back then, but now that we know she was actually pregnant 10 years earlier, this takes on new meaning."
Nowalk went on to discuss what kind of questions this would raise going forward.
"What happened to the child she was pregnant with?" Nowalk said. "Did this pregnancy alter her marriage with Sam forever? These are the central questions to the rest of this season. I will say this, the answers illuminate her relationship with Wes, and help us understand Annalise in a way we haven't before."
The midseason premiere episode titled "What Happened to You, Annalise?" aired on Feb. 11.
