Peter Banks, guitarist from the British band Yes died in his home in London. He was 65.

The founding member of the progressive rock group reportedly passed away on March 7 from heart failure, but was found in his home after not showing up to a recording session, reported Yahoo.

Fellow band members said via a Facebook post, "We are deeply saddened to learn about the passing of fellow bandmate and founding Yes member, Peter Banks. He was a huge piece of the fabric that made Yes what it is, and our thoughts, sincere condolences and prayers are with him and his family. Peter, we shall miss you greatly."

Banks performed on the first two albums from Yes, before going on to form Flash and another band following called Empire. During his life, he released five solo albums.

Over the last few years, Banks was involved in several bands in his attempt to remain creative with his music.

Former Yes band member Billy Sherwood expressed his grief in hearing the sudden passing of Banks. "I loved working with Peter on the many records I have produced over the years," he said, according to The Inquisitr. "He always delivered amazing stuff, creative, inspires and always with that classic original Yes flavor that came with his playing. He will be missed by me and many, many other fans of his music and playing."
