On Friday, TV Line announced that girl named Ally will be joining the series as someone with "unexpected ties" to the characters. Not much else was released about Ally except for the fact that she's a college student.
She will be played by Tristin Mays, who's known for The Wedding Ringer, Gullah Gullah Island and Thunderstruck. She also played Sarah on The Vampire Diaries and Alicia on Fail.

There are plenty of other storylines that can be expected in the fifth season of the Freeform drama, one of them including Toby and Lily having a baby together. In a previous report from The Wrap, series creator Lizzy Weiss dished on how this will make some changes for the future.
"The baby has been a big part of the season that we've touched upon a bunch of times, and has been part of our larger series conversation about difference," Weiss said. "And it's just another strand for difference. It was just important that we end the first part of that journey. On the other hand, you're just beginning the journey. That is a really beautiful moment, and one of my favorites, not just in the episode, but in the series."
Switched at Birth Season 5 is expected to premiere this April on Freeform.
