Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton and her husband Prince William are making preparations for their first child due in July by renovating Anmer Hall, said to be the couple's country home.

A spokeswoman for King's Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council, told E! News the couple's plans for home improvements, notably to make the property more private, have been approved and they can now get to work.

Anmer Hall currently belongs to Queen Elizabeth II and was given to the couple in January 2013, according to The Huffington Post. The 10-bedroom home has been a royal estate since 1898 and is located two miles from Queen Elizabeth II's Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

"The planning application has been permitted for the rerouting of an existing driveway, the extension to garage block to form an equipment room, the conversion of the wood store into accommodation and the construction of a new garden room," a council spokesperson for the Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk said.

Middleton and Prince William also live in a private wing at Kensington Palace that once belonged to Queen Elizabeth's sister Princess Margaret, according to Parade.

If the baby is born July 1, he or she will share a birthday with Prince William's late mother Princess Diana. Their child, whether boy or girl, could be monarch one day since he or she is the first-born to the prince, who is second to the throne after his father Prince Charles. The child will be behind Prince William in the line of succession.

Middleton reportedly hinted to the fact that she is having a girl during an outing earlier in March. She visited the National Fishing Heritage in Grimsy and when a local gave her a white teddy bear, she replied, "Thank you, I'll take that for my d-" before she broke off her comments.

Middleton and Prince William wed in April 2011.
