Game publisher Deep Silver released the trailer for the upcoming Saint's Row 4 on Friday.

The new trailer also brings the announced release date for the game set for August 20 in North America, according to GameRanx.

The trailer gives eager gamers a look into the gameplay, locales and some of the characters they will get to play as the story continues of the Third Street Saints.

The official description of the game was reported by Eurogamer stating: "The head honcho of the Saints has been elected to the Presidency of the United States. But the Saints are just getting started. Now the larger-than-life insanity of the Saints series gets a new twist with a catastrophic alien invasion, and the aliens have transported the Saints to a bizarro-Steelport simulation. Wield gargantuan superpowers and fight to free humanity from alien granddaddy Zinyak's mental grasp. Escape the simulation that's trapped the Saints crew, or die trying."

Players will reportedly get to also utilize new weapons with enhanced customization that include alien technology.

The urban open-world series is known for its own humor and action that will reportedly return in full for the next game, according to THQ developer Danny Bilson who was interviewed about the game by G4.

Bilson stated that the game will be wilder than its 2011 predecessor, Saint's Row: The Third, saying, "It's a good example of how you take what you have and you say, 'What can happen in the next?"

The rights to the game were bought by Koch Media, the parent company of Deep Silver, from THQ after the developer filed for bankruptcy in January, according to Forbes.

Saint's Row 4 is set to hit store shelves on August 20 in North America for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The game is currently not slated to be released for the next-generation PS4 and Xbox 720, according to Ubergizmo.
