Can fans expect to say farewell to a big character on Call the Midwife?

Chatter On The 'Call The Midwife' Christmas Special

That seems like a definite possibility based on what was revealed on Mirror on Saturday. Apparently, the nuns and nurses at Poplar will be upset over the loss of someone where a funeral is expected to take place. The question is, whose funeral is it?

It's for sure that the characters who won't die are PC Noakes and Tom Hereward because both will be present to pay their respects. So this leaves a lot to the imagination on who everyone will say good-bye to.

What Changes Can Be Expected On 'Call The Midwife' Season 5?

"The audience will no doubt feel shocked and saddened by the loss of one of the Nonnatus favorites," an insider told the site. "As regular fans know, many of the Call the Midwife episodes have very emotional themes, but it would be wise to keep the tissues close for this one."

Whatever happens next, it's clear that it's going to bring people to tears. In fact, Stephen McGann who plays Patrick on the show, mentioned how he gets a lot of emotional responses from fans.

"We get a huge reaction every time an episode airs," McGann said. "I'm often told people like it because it's nostalgic. But it's actually that it makes people cry. I get women messaging me saying it has ruined their make-up."

Call the Midwife Season 5 is expected to premiere in the United States on Sunday, April 3 on PBS.
