How long could Call the Midwife stay on television?
Check Out The Trailer For 'Call The Midwife' Season 5
While an official answer to that question is yet to be known, it appears that the series could stay on until everyone decides to look elsewhere. The series has yet to premiere the fifth season in the United States and a sixth season has already been renewed. But how much longer could it go from there?
On Sunday, Radio Times posted details from Stephen McGann who plays Dr. Turner on the show. He mentioned that he's open-minded for the series to last so long that things will get pretty different.
What Changes Can Be Expected On 'Call The Midwife' Season 5?
"I can easily see Call the Midwife in space," the actor joked. "I will be Doctor Turner, 145-years-old, still dashingly handsome with amazing pills to preserve me!"
With that being said, it doesn't seem like anyone has plans to let the show run its course at this point.
"We have always said, we will run for as long as the people want to see it," McGann said. "Heidi [Thomas, the show's creator] says, 'Bringing women's stories to the screen is a privilege. I'll go on for as long as they want me. I'm up for it.' And we're all up for it. If people want to see it, that's it. We'll still be there."
Call the Midwife Season 5 is expected to premiere in the United States on Sunday, April 3 on PBS.
