The time came to say good-bye to the Crawleys...but is it forever?

Chatter On Mary's 'Complicated' Life On 'Downton Abbey'

On Monday, Entertainment Weekly speculated that Downton Abbey may turn into a feature film following the final episode that aired over the weekend. The publication chatted with a couple stars from the series as they opened up on the possibility that a movie based on the British drama might happen. But they didn't seem too enthusiastic about it.

Elizabeth McGovern, who played Cora on the show, pointed out that if a movie does end up being made, there would have to be a lot of thought put into it.

"If you were to reconceive it as a movie, you wouldn't just want to put an episode up on a movie screen," McGovern said. "You'd have to really have a great idea. I don't know if there's any other idea that suits it being a movie. There's no real reason for me."

Hugh Bonneville, who played Robert, mentioned that if all goes well, then he would be happy to be in the movie. But it may not end up happening for a while since series creator Julian Fellowes is pretty swamped with other projects right now.

"I'm sure if the script was right and we could all get together, I could see circumstances in which it would happen," Bonneville said. "I don't know when Julian's going to have time to write the damn thing."
