Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton: 'Came Here To Forget' Is A 'Direct Look' Into Divorce? [VIDEO]
Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert divorced in July 2015, and in his new single, "Came Here To Forget," the country singer opens up about their split, and moving on with Gwen Stefani.
Prior ot the song's release, Shelton revealed to fans that the piece would give them a glimpse into his private life.
“I’ve had a lot of music over the years but I don’t think I’ve ever had a song before that’s such a direct look into my life,” Shelton said in a release, according to a report by Hollywood Life last week. “That’s why I’m so excited about this particular song.”
“I’m doing what I’m supposed to do, and that’s put all I’ve gone through and put it into music, and I never felt more connected to a record before," he explained. "When people hear this record, they may not know what happened to me, but they’re gonna know how I felt about it. And that’s exciting for me, to just lay it out there for people.”
In January, Lambert shared a few thoughs of her own about their split.
"We were together for 10 years, married for four, were very quickly divorced, and are friends," Lambert told Cosmopolitan Magazine. "I'm still processing everything and figuring out where to go and what happened. [Marriage is] a tough business, and we gave it our best college try."
