Yoko Ono Tweets John Lennon Blood Stained Glasses in Response to Gun Violence; Shares Wedding Anniversary Album [Photos]
Yoko Ono, wife of the late John Lennon from The Beatles, has taken to Twitter to express her feelings about gun violence and even posted a photo of what appeared to be Lennon's blood stained glasses.
Lennon was shot and killed in Manhattan in 1980 outside of the Dakota apartment building where Ono still lives.
In the tweet she sent on March 20, which is also the 44th Wedding Anniversary of Ono and Lennon, with the photo of what looks like Lennon's glasses, the Manhattan skyline is in the background. The tweet reads, "Over 1,057,000 people have been killed by guns in the USA since John Lennon was shot and killed on 8 Dec 1980."
Following that, the 80-year-old tweeted, "31,537 people are killed by guns in the USA every year. We are turning this beautiful country into war zone."
Ono also tweeted that she and Lennon's son, Sean, still miss Lennon after 33 years.
After the tweets regarding gun violence, she tweeted about her wedding to Lennon with a link to a website with photos of the couple when they got married in 1969.
She tweeted, "We decided that if we were going to do anything like get married that we would dedicate it to peace."
