Bon Jovi's Daughter Overdoses on Heroin, Stephanie Causes Dad to Reflect on Reality, VIDEO
When Jon Bon Jovi received a phone call telling him that his daughter was in the hospital for a heroin overdose, he was floored.
"Worst phone call ever," the It's My Life singer said of the experience on The Katie Couric Show.
Stephanie Bongiovi, 19, was attending Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y., when she was rushed to the emergency room on Nov. 12, 2012. Bon Jovi said he was not aware of his daughter's drug use
"The problem is much more prevalent than I know," he said in the interview. "I cannot get over how many people I've met that said that my son or my daughter ... people I love, admire and respect. It happens to all kinds of families."
"There's a lot of pressure on kids these days," the singer continued. "There's access to things my generation didn't have. I'm just blessed she's healthy and whole, and we'll get through it."
Bon Jovi assured Couric that his daughter is "doing great" and taking her sobriety very seriously.
Bongiovi was arrested with companion Ian Grant for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia back in November of 2012 but all charges were dropped. She is the oldest of Bon Jovi's four children with wife Dorothea Hurley. He also has three sons: Jesse, 17, Jacob, 10, and Romeo, 8.
