April Fools Pranks 2016: Best Hoaxes From T-Mobile, Sony, Gmail & More!
April Fools' Day is a day for hoaxes, pranks and exciting movie/TV/music announcements that end up being disappointingly untrue.
Here are some of the best pranks we've seen pulled so far today:
Sony's Proton Pack from Ghostbusters
Just in time for the upcoming Ghostbusters movie, Sony released a humorous advertisement for the new Proton Pack, which "captures content from a parallel dimension." The ghost-catching device is sadly too cool to be true.
T-Mobile's Binge On Up Device
T-Mobile released a commercial for #BingeOnUp, a device you attach to your head that allows you to binge-watch your favorite shows no matter where you are. Check out the hilarious commercial below:
Gmail's Mic Drop
One April Fools' Day prank that's gone horribly wrong is Gmail's Mic Drop. As they explain: "Today, Gmail is making it easier to have the last word on any email with Mic Drop. Simply reply to any email using the new 'Send + Mic Drop' button. Everyone will get your message, but that's the last you'll ever hear about it. Yes, even if folks try to respond, you won't see it." The feature inserts a GIF of one of the Minions dropping a mic. Unfortunately, it's done more harm than good and has been since turned off.
Loudwire's 'James Hetfield Quits!' Report
According to hard rock and heavy metal news site Loudwire, James Hetfield, the lead singer and co-founder of iconic metal band Metallica, has quit the band to join...indie alt-rock darlings the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Yeah, yeah, we're sure that's really happening.
Design & Trend's Exclusive With The Walking Dead Star Norman Reedus
There is a ton of speculation about this weeknd's upcoming season finale of The Walking Dead, where one character is rumored to be dying a brutal death at the hands of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his barbed wire baseball bat, Lucille. Knowing that, Deisng & Trend published an "exclusive" email excerpt from an email they claimed to have sent Norman Reedus, who portrays Daryl Dixon, where he confirmed his character would be the one exiting--because he and Melissa McBride, who portrays Carol, could no longer stand being on the same set.
Youtube's SnoopaVision
YouTube + Snoop Dog = Pretty solid Silicon Valley April Fools Joke.
John Stamos' Netflix Freakout
First, Netflix released a trailer for a new documentary about Fuller House star John Stamos.
Then footage of Stamos NSFW "freaking out" in the Netflix office when he found out that the documentary was fake "leaked" on YouTube.
It's actually probably the best prank today...because we know it's probably fake, but relly want it to be real.
