'50 Shades of Grey' Movie Cast: Stephen Amell Update, Is Christian Grey Actor's Role To Lose? VIDEO
Since an announcement was made last year that a film adaptation of E.L. James' Fifty Shades of Grey would be coming out, many of the saucy erotica's fans have been dying in wonder over who will ultimately land the main role of the S&M-crazed billionaire Christian Grey.
While a slew of notable actor names have been brought up, Arrow's Stephen Amell made a video statement last week via Facebook that he's been in talks to play in the flick.
While the social networking posting wasn't a confirmation that he landed a role of any sorts, he did verify that he had a meeting about the project, making it a safe bet that he's indeed a top contender for the Grey part.
"I get questions about Christian Grey all the time. That project is a long way off, I know this, because I had a meeting about it. Long way off. I mean, not that long, but not close. I wouldn't call it long, but I wouldn't call it close," said Amell.
Although it's not the Red Room of Pain, Amell does don the part of a superhero with a top-secret training facility in his Arrow. To top it off, the 31-year-old's character in the CW show also possesses some striking similarities to the Fifty Shades character of Christian.
Much like Grey, Arrow is a good-looking and wealthy individual who had a rough past, which led to his secret life.
According to LOOK, Amell has been no stranger to expressing his interest on playing the explicit role of Grey
"I mean if you think about it, it would be four movies, the last part being two parts. I don't even own a house yet. So I don't think that I'd be turning that down any time soon," he said.
Other top candidates for the main role include Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder, Man of Steel's Henry Cavill and White Collar's Matt Bomer, amongst other well-known actors.
Although the producers have yet to attach a director to the franchise, the film is slated for a big screen release in the summer of 2014.
