Today show co-host Matt Lauer and former former co-host Ann Curry have been mostly connected to spiteful allegations, as Lauer has been blamed for her departure from the show last year.

Before she left, in an episode where Curry is seen crying as she explains she didn't expect to be leaving the show so soon, Lauer goes in for a failed comforting kiss as Curry turns her face.

On the episode, she says, "This is not easy to say but today is going to be my last morning as a regular co-host of Today."

She continues with, "I'm so grateful. Especially to all of you who watch because Matt and I and everyone who sits on this couch, we often call ourselves a family. But you are the real 'Today' show family."

Curry left the show in June 2012 and since then the show has continued to fall behind ABC's Good Morning America with ratings.

Curry was on the show for 15 years and after leaving Today she was assigned new roles as a national and international correspondent. Today executive producer said of Curry in a statement of her departure from the show, "Ann has quite literally reached amazing heights in her career, and with this new role, she will continue her intrepid climb bringing viewers her signature brand of humanitarian reporting."
