David Beckham Falls Taking Free Kick in China [Video]
British soccer star David Beckham has been touring in China as their first global football ambassador, but he had a minor slip up on Saturday.
While wearing a suit and wingtips, the midfielder for the Paris Saint-German football club in France, Beckham attempted to play and go for a free kick when he slipped and fell, according to NESN.com.
Beckham laughed it off, as he propped himself up off the field.
The slip-up was compared by the website to a Michael Jordan commercial from his Chicago Bulls days. In the commercial, Jordan is advertising his Air Jordan XIII, and tries to balance his roles as a basketball star and a CEO by running out dressed in a suit during halftime, in a very Clark Kent double-life fashion.
The commercial ends with a shot of a newspaper that pops up claiming he scored 43 points wearing wingtips.
According to The Daily Mail, Beckham said of his ambassador position with China: "I'm excited by the prospect of promoting the world's greatest game to Chinese sports fans, as I've seen firsthand the growing interest in football there. This is a wonderful sport that inspires people across the world and brings families together, so I'm relishing the opportunity of introducing more fans to the game."
