They had what seemed to be one of the most wonderful real-life love stories off the set of General Hospital, but co-stars Kirsten Storms and Brandon Barash are sadly calling it quits on their marriage.

The couple confirmed the news in an exclusive interview with Soap Opera Digest, saying that they have decided to end their marriage, but will remain on friendly terms.

"We are splitting due to the cliché irreconcilable differences, but we're splitting amicably," Barash told the magazine. "We have every intention of remaining a family through this and successfully co-parenting our kid and retaining a friendship in the efforts of raising her in a healthy environment."

The pair, who married in 2013, welcomed daughter Harper Rose, 2, in early 2014. Their daughter occasionally appears on-screen as Storms' character Maxie's daughter, Georgie.

The couple stressed in the interview that even though their marriage is coming to an end, they didn't make the decision without some serious consideration first, and said they tried working things out through therapy before coming to the conclusion that the best thing for them and their daughter was separating and calling it quits.

"We went to therapy for a long time, trying to figure out how to communicate better with each other. It's not anything that we dislike about each other," Storms said.

Storms also said that there was nothing sordid behind their decision to divorce, and they their relationship will likely benefit from the split-and there's no dirty story to try and dig up either.

"If fans are looking to go and watch us be awkward with each other, that's totally not going to happen," Storms said. "We are getting along, and I would say enjoying each other's company more now that we don't have the pressure of what comes with a relationship added on to that. I think Brandon and I are really looking forward to getting our friendship with each other back."

"There was nothing that went into this outside of what we've told you. We're doing what we feel is best for ourselves and Harper," she added.

Barash also confirmed that there was nothing to worry about when it came to why the marriage has ended.

"People are going to speculate because they always want to, and they always want to place blame, but it was a joint decision that we thought everyone in our family would benefit from," he said.
