'Fast and Furious 8' Spoilers: 'Game of Thrones' Actor Set To Play Lead Villain In 'Furious 7' Sequel? [VIDEO]
There has been a lot of buzz surrounding the villains joining Fast and Furious 8.
In the latest news, it was revealed that Game of Thrones' Kristofer Hivju is set to star as an antagonist in the Furious 7 sequel. According to a report by The Wrap, Hivju will be playing the part of the leader of the villains in the movie. Until very recently Charlize Theron was also being rumored as being considered for the part of the main villain, but alas, it seems that was just wishful thinking.
In February, Deadline had reported that the movie was looking to cast a solo female villain for this movie and they had Theron in mind. This addition to Fast and Furious 8 could have made things very exciting, especially given Theron's record playing gritty roles, most recently blowing audiences minds away as Imperator Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road. She has also played the steely villainous part in Snowhite and the Huntsman as Queen Ravenna.
In other news, Jason Statham is also set to return as Deckard Shaw, the main villain in Furious 7.
Statham had confirmed the news about his return earlier last year. Making an appearance for the launch of the Fast and Furious based theme ride, Supercharged, at Universal Studios Hollywood, he even dished some about the franchise's success.
The actor to Access Hollywood on the red carpet talking about Furious 7's immense success.
"Yeah, it just shows the fanbase is very unique. They really do relate to the characters. They love these characters. They've followed them for years and years," Statham said.
The actor also talked his excitement at returning for the next movie in the franchise.
"We're already talking about doing another one, Part 8. I'm a newcomer, I just got invited to the party on this last one. It is nice to know I'll be doing another."
Fast and Furious 8 will be released on April 15, 2017.
Furious 7 opened in theaters on April 3, 2015.
