Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Release Date Following S4 Rollout in Late April; Leaked Specs Info
The Samsung Galaxy S4 does not come out until late April but a report from Bloomberg Businessweek confirmed on Thursday that the a S4 mini will go on sale soon after.
The GS4 mini, whose specs were leaked last week, runs Android 4.2.2, the latest version of Ice Cream Sandwich and boasts a 1.5 GHz dual core CPU. The phone will also sport a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED display screen with qHD resolution.
The mini has a striking resemblance to the larger GS4 but is smaller in size and will target consumers who are looking for a lower-cost alternative to the GS4.
Although the Bloomberg report is widely believed to be a strong confirmation and several Samsung executives are cited in the piece, industry insiders warned excited customers to wait until official word is released by Samsung regarding the mini, before they begin allocating money for the new smaller GS.
No specific Samsung rep is cited for the GS4 mini's confirmation and estimated released date.
According to reviews of the GS4, the phone is considered by many to be an "incremental" enhancement of the GS III and not, in any way, a revolutionary device.
The overall design of the update sees Samsung stayed the course and, though the screen has been increased to a full five inches and will be a Full HD super AMOLED display with 444 ppi.
The key design will be familiar to GS III users as well and is not as flashy as its predecessor. At 7.9 mm, the GS4 is thinner than the 8.6 mm thickness of the GS III though both devices weigh in at about 130 grams.
In terms of speed, the GS4 will utilize either a Sanpdragon or Exynos 5 processor which will draw upon 2GM of RAM and be capable of storing 16, 32 or 64 GB of internal files. The rear-facing camera boasts a 13-megapixel lens and plenty of battery life comes standard with a 2,600 mAh battery.
The GS4 will debut on AT&T, Cricket, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Verizon.
