It looks like Ciara is having a hard time letting go of her grievances towards the father of her only child these days. After refusing to say Future's name while announcing the nominees for this year's Billboard Music Awards, the chart topper has been slammed for "holding her grudge" against her child's father.

According to columnist and lawyer Yolanda Young, in a personal essay published by NBC News' NBCBLK on Friday, Ciara is not doing herself any favors - or her almost 2-year-old son Future Zahir Wilburn for that matter - for being so 'petty' and 'childish' about her strained relationship with her baby daddy. Ciara broke off her engagement to Future back in August of 2014 after it was alleged that he was cheating on her. She is also suing him for defamation after he hinted that she might be a bad mother. This week Future countersued her for the same reasons.

Young writes in her essay about the matter, "I wish I could tell you the lawsuits and countersuits you and Future have filed demanding the other stop making derogatory remarks will solve your problem, but it is impossible to resolve personal strife in public."

She added, "What you must do is remember what the two of you shared in private. Recall your child's father at his most vulnerable, and I'll bet it won't be long before you realize that the mean and hurtful things he's done to you aren't the result of his being intrinsically evil but rather his being badly broken."

So far Ciara herself has not made any comments about the matter.
