American Idol' Top 7 Results Announced; Season 12 Only Has Two Men Remaining
It's the final countdown for the chosen winner of American Idol.
The final top seven were announced on Thursday and only two men remain in Fox's singing competition. Though Velez's last performance featured him singing Somos Novios It's impossible with bilingual talent, which brought Mariah Carey to tears, Velez was not selected. He also sang Beyonce's Listen in both English and Spanish when he sang in Las Vegas a few weeks ago.
"Unfortunately, it is not unanimous. We're not going to use it," said judge Randy Jackson.
On Thursday Keith Urban performed for the first time this season, and former contestant Katherine McPhee along with the band OneRepublic also made an appearance on stage. Following was a video appearance from Aretha Franklin, who praised contestant Kree Harrison after she sand Franklin's Don't Play That Song For Me.
The seven remaining finalists are Lazaro Arbos, Janelle Arthur, Candice Glover, Kree Harrison, Amber Holcomb, Angela Miller and Burnell Taylor.
The show's last female winner was Jordin Sparks in 2007.
American Idol's 12th season continues next Wednesday on Fox at 8/7 p.m. Central. Carly Rae Jepsen will sing at the season finale.
