Johnny Depp, Amber Heard Update: Couple Film ‘Awkward’ & ‘Weird’ Apology Video For Australia [VIDEO]
Are Johnny Depp and Amber Heard truly sorry or are they just saying it for the sake of saying it? That's what their fans can't help but wonder as the Hollywood pair recently posted an 'awkward' and 'weird' apology video for smuggling their dogs into Australia last year.
Heard pleaded guilty to producing false documents to quarantine officials after she tried to bring her two dogs, Pistol and Boo, into Australia back in May of 2015. Her dogs were considered a risk because the United States is not a rabies-free country. Australia requires any tourists bringing pets to apply for a permit and quarantine before their arrival.
During that time, Australian officials threated to euthanize the dogs if they weren't sent back to the United States within 72 hours. The situation is being mocked on Twitter with the hashtag #WarOnTerrier.
According to Gossip Cop on Monday, Australian prosecutors dismissed two charges, which could have seen the actress in jail for 10 years and fined up to $81,600. Instead, Heard will have a one-month $1,000 "good behavior bond" which means she cannot commit any other offenses within Australia for 30 days.
In the video clip, which a lot of critics are calling both 'weird' and 'awkward,' Depp and Heard can be seen apologizing to Australian authorities. Heard said that she is "truly sorry that Pistol and Boo were not declared" as "protecting Australia is important."
Towards the end of the video, Depp says, "When you disrespect Australian law, they will tell you firmly. Declare everything when you enter Australia," before adding a simple "Thanks."
