Doris Roberts Death Date: 'Everybody Loves Raymond' Mom Dies At 90, Cast & Stars Respond [VIDEO]
Sad news for Hollywood this morning as the beloved Doris Roberts, who was most known for her role as the matriarch on the hit series Everybody Loves Raymond, passed away at 90.
She passed on Sunday in Los Angeles, according to TMZ. It’s not clear what was the cause of death. Roberts leaves behind a son, Michael Cannata Jr., from her first marriage. Her second husband, William Goyen, passed away back in 1983.
Ray Romano, who played Roberts’ son in the series that aired from 1996 to 2005 on CBS released a statement that said, “Doris Roberts had an energy and a spirit that amazed me. She never stopped. Whether working professionally or with her many charities, or just nurturing and mentoring a green young comic trying to make it as an actor, she did everything with such a grand love for life and people and I will miss her dearly.”
CBS also released a statement:
“We’re deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Doris Roberts. She was a gifted and talented actress who was beloved by audiences that saw her on every screen and stage. And to those who worked with her, Doris will be remembered for lighting up every room she walked into with an unparalleled combination of energy, humor, warmth and even a little bit of grit. We were so privileged to have her call CBS home for so many years. She will be greatly missed. Truly, Everybody Loved Doris.”
Patricia Heaton, who portrayed Ramano’s wife and Roberts’ daughter-in-law said Roberts’ passing marked “Truly the end of an era.”
