Cory Monteith, more commonly known as Finn Hudson on ABC's Glee, has checked himself into a rehabilitation facility to help battle substance abuse issues, according to reports.

The 30-year-old Monteith's representative told TVGuide.com that the actor "voluntarily admitted himself into a treatment facility for substance addiction. He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery."

26-year-old Lea Michelle, Monteith's co-star and actual girlfriend, told People she fully supports him in his efforts to get clean. "I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this. I am grateful and proud he made this decision. He really, really inspires me, and he motivates me and I think he's just so talented."

Michelle and Monteith brought their relationship into the public eye last April, and were recently seen canoodling at a Los Angeles Kings hockey game on March 23.

Glee is currently filming its fourth season and will continue on schedule, according to Deadline. Finn Hudson will be absent from the final two episodes and it will be explained through the storyline.

In a statement, 20th Century Fox said "Cory is a beloved member of the Glee family and we fully support his decision to seek treatment. Everyone at the show wishes him well and looks forward to his return."

Monteith has appeared in 88 episodes of Glee, which premiered in 2009. He has also appeared in movies such as Final Destination 3, Monte Carlo, Whisper, and Deck the Halls. Monteith has also had guest appearances in several hit television shows, including Smallville, Supernatural, Flash Gordon, Stargate Atlantis and Stargate SG-1. He also hosted the 2010 Teen Choice Awards.

Monteith admitted in 2011 that he checked into rehab as a 19-year-old because of substance abuse. In 2011 Monteith said, "I don't want kids to think it's okay to drop out of school and get high, and they'll be famous actors, too. But for those people who might give up: Get real about what you want and go after it."
