'50 Shades of Grey' Movie Casting: Sheridan Smith And Eddie Redmayne Casted for Ana & Christian Roles?! VIDEO
The film adaptation of E.L. James' Fifty Shades of Grey continues to keep fans guessing on just how the casting process will ultimately unfold.
On Monday, loyalists of the racy flick thought that they had their answer when English actress Sheridan Smith made the announcement that she along with actor Eddie Redmayne had been casted for the principal roles of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey.
However, the respective proclamation was soon shot down by the 31-year-old herself, as she later revealed her lie was in lieu of April Fool's Day.
Smith initially took to Twitter to write the following:
"I'm so excited to tell you that I've been cast as the lead girl in 50 shades of grey opposite Eddie Redmayne, can't wait to start filming!!"
However, she later came clean on her joke, and acknowledged some of her fans in the process.
"I'm crying laughing that some of u actually fell for that! Especially amused by @fountain1987 @louiespence & @Ecclestonshire :D love ya's!!!"
To top off the gullibility, former Hollyoaks actor Chris Fountain fell for the bogus tweet as well, replying "that's amazing! Congratulations! X"
Early in 2012, Focus Features and Universal Pictures purchased the rights to the Fifty Shades. The racy novel has now sold well over 60 million copies and the movie is expected to do just as well.
Although the producers have yet to attach a director to the franchise, the movie is slated for its big screen release in the summer of 2014.
