The Fifty Shades of Grey film casting just got a little more intense, at least after it was initially reported that actors Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson had been casted as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele.

Fanshare had stated that the casting for the saucy movie had already been underway and the production team opted to take a different approach to the creative process and choose an actress to play the college alumni Steele that clearly doesn't resemble her in Avengers 2's Scarlett Johansson.

In another clip, the site added to the shocker by reporting that Gordon-Levitt of Dark Knight Rises was given the role of the S&M-crazed billionaire. The respective announcement came as a shocker to fans, as the race for the Grey role seemed to be between Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder and White Collar's Matt Bomer, amongst others.

However, while the respective information caught many Fifty Shades loyalists off guard, several were able to see right through it, and rightfully so. At the bottom of the articles were "Read More" icons.

Once clicked, a pop up comes on the screen informing the readers that the latest casting chatter was simply an April Fools' prank.

The producers have yet to attach a director or publically announce the franchise's casting protocol. Nonetheless, the flick is slated for its big screen release in the summer of 2014.
