Prince William was dissed by a 4-year-old girl in Glasgow, Scotland, when she moved away as he tried to kiss her in the cheek.

The toddler, Shona Ritchie, was dressed in a light blue princess dress and waiting for Prince William to greet her with a flower in her hand outside the Emirates Arena.

When Prince William approached to her, he reached out for the flower she was holding but she took it away from him because she wanted to give it to his wife Kate Middleton.

"Oh is that for me?" he asked. "No, you want to give it to Kate. Quite right," he said.

Prince William smiled and then he leaned to give her a kiss but she surprised him by turning away.

"Ohhh..." Prince William said, smiling. "Next time Shona, next time," he added.

The girl then gave the flower to the Duchess of Cambridge.

The toddler's mother Karen Ritchie, 34, told UK's Daily Mail that her daughter had been dressed up like that since 6am in the morning.

"As he leaned in to kiss her on the forehead she pulled away and got really shy. This is the quietest she's been all day," she said.

She also said that Middleton said Shona looked very pretty and asked her if she had picked the flower from her garden but Shona told her she got it from "my vase in the house."

"She [Middleton] thought that was very funny."

The royal couple will stay two days in Scotland and leave on Friday.
