He's been finding success in the role of Adam Newman for the last two years, but is Justin Hartley preparing to vacate his role on The Young and the Restless for a new primetime gig?

Hartley is a part of the pilot for the upcoming new NBC series This Is Us, which has been given an official greenlight and was picked up for the 2016-2017 television season. Now, the new gig has some concerned if Hartley will be able to continue in his role on the CBS soap.

The series, which follows a group of characters with a bevy of random connections between them, starts Hartley in the role of Kevin, a handsome and successful television actor who is bored with his bachelor life. In addition, the series also features Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz, Susan Kelechi Watson, Chris Sullivan, and Ron Cephas Jones.

There has been no comment as of yet about how the show could or if it would genuinely affect Hartley's status at Young and the Restless, with only a show spokesperson saying that they wouldn't be able to comment on the status of his contract.

"It's show policy that we don't comment on the contract status of the cast," a spokesperson told soapcentral.

Hartley could also pull double duty with the two shows, and potentially just reduce his screen time as Adam Newman on the soap whenever his obligations for the other show need to come first. He's done double duty in the past, starring on ABC's summer series Mistresses as Scott Trosman/Scott Thompson during that show's 2014-2015 season.

It would also be devastating to see Harley leave Y&R now, after his girlfriend, Chrishell Stause just joined the show's cast, in the role of Bethany Bryant, who was described at the time as a "young woman who relishes the chance to push things to the limit and live dangerously as long as she's not the one who gets burned." It was unclear whether or not her character would be one who could stir up trouble for Chelsea (Melissa Clare Egan) and Adam's marriage.

The Young and the Restless airs Monday-Friday at 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
