Prince Death Update: Singer's Bodyguard Opens Up On Drug Addiction Gossip, 'That's Not Him' [VIDEO]
Prince's bodyguard opened up on the shocking death of the singer with details on his rumored drug addiction.
The "Purple Rain" singer died on April 21 where rumor has it that prescription painkillers could've played a part. Chris Gaither, who was Prince's bodyguard "up until the day he died" mentioned in Monday's report from CNN that he was around him non-stop-- so if there was an addiction happening, it would've been obvious.
"I packed this man's bag on the daily," Gaither said. "I have been on tour with him for months. So if anybody had an addiction that would be something you would see. That would be something that you would know."
The bodyguard also firmly claimed that Prince didn't even have a drug dependency. He also found out the news of his death when a friend called him when it was just minutes before it became a media headline.
"I immediately stopped what I was doing," Gaither said. "I couldn't concentrate on anything I was doing after that. I went all over the world with him. And suddenly he was just gone."
Gaither worked with Prince for years and never noticed any sign of him taking advantage of medications.
"He may have had an issue where he had to go to the doctor and they prescribed something for him, but as far as him abusing stuff, that's not him," he said. "When it comes to health, he's the fittest person."
He did admit though that doctors would sometimes visit Prince.
"Only time doctors would come in, they would give him a B-12 shot, something like that, when he might have been feeling sick or low on energy," Gaither said. "But other than that, he wasn't taking stuff. He had more energy than everybody just off his natural presence."
