Miranda Lambert Tears at CMAs, Female Vocalist Of The Year' Win Was a Shock [VIDEO]
Female Vocalist of the Year Miranda Lambert couldn't hold back her tears after accepting her fourth award Sunday night at the Academy of Country Music Awards.
Although she received the same award the past three consecutive years, she didn't think she would win again.
"I'm a pessimist," the 29-year-old told People after the show. "So I'm always like, when is the other shoe going to drop? It's over - my primetime is done. But your peers vote for you and believe in you, especially as a songwriter."
She felt her biggest competition was Carrie Underwood, who won a Grammy earlier in the year.
"I mean - I really, truly was rooting for Carrie Underwood. She really, truly is an inspiration to me as a vocalist, and I love her and I really wanted her to win tonight," Lambert said. "She did win some Grammys, so hopefully that made up for it, but she is just so good. She can sing any one of us under the table."
The winning country singer won more awards than any other nominee on Sunday. Her song Over You was named Single Record of the Year and it was also Song of the Year, which earned her awards as the song's performer and co-writer with her husband Blake Shelton.
