During a trip to Scotland recently with her husband Prince William, Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton talked to reporters about her pregnancy, her due date in July and most notably names for her first child.

The 31-year-old pregnant royal visited Quarriers Stopover Project in Glasgow on April 4 and talked with the project manager of the homeless shelter about the baby names her and her husband have in mind. The couple still has time, since she confirmed that her due date is in mid-July, but Middleton said a few names have already been considered.

"We have a short list for both [boy and girl] but it's very difficult," she confessed, adding that she has been getting suggestions from others as well. She said, "My friends keep texting me names."

During her visit, Caitlin Tominey, a 17-year-old local, gave Middleton with a baby bonnet, teddy bear and onesie. Middleton thanked her for the gifts by saying, "It's very sweet of you, I'll keep it safe for the big day."

"I've been trying to knit and I'm really bad. I should be asking you for tips," she added.

The gender of the baby has yet to be confirmed by the couple or the royal place. However, Middleton said in March that she wants her first child to be a boy, while her husband would prefer his firstborn to be a girl.

Middleton reportedly hinted earlier in the year that she might be expecting a girl. When a local handed her a white teddy bear, she said, "Thank you, I'll take that for my d-" before she broke off her comments.

The firstborn, whether boy or girl, will be third in line to the throne following Prince William and Prince Charles.
