Actress LeAnn Rimes admitted in a recent interview that her relationship with reality star Brandi Glanville has been tough ever since the former's affair with Eddie Cibrian, and added that it has also been hard to find a balance with her stepchildren.

The 30-year-old posed for Fabulous magazine's April 2013 issue and in her interview with the publication she opened up about the personal struggles she faces.

The country singer married dancer Dean Sheremet in 2002. During their marriage, she fell in love with married actor Eddie Cibrian, 39, while they were filming their 2009 TV movie Northern Lights. Cibrian at the time was married to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville.

Cibrian and Rimes' six-week affair led to both of their marriages ending, and the couple married two years later. Rimes helps take care of Cibrian's two sons - Jake, 5, and Masin, 9 - and also deals with a still-scorned Glanville, 40.

Rimes told the magazine her stepsons are been accepting of her, though that has not always been the case.

"It's taken a while to feel like it's not just Eddie and the two boys and then me. But I do feel that's happening," she said. "Sometimes they'll blurt out: 'Mom!', but I just go with whatever they call me. As long as it's nice and respectful, I couldn't care less."

She added that she and Cibrian "absolutely" want to have kids together.

When asked about Glanville, who has been vocal about her dislike for Cibrian's current wife, Rimes replied with, "That's where you write 'insert face reaction here.' "

"It's been really difficult," she added. "You have to stand up for yourself and be your own person, but at the same time you have to protect these children and their hearts. And that's a very tough balance."

Rimes does not have any "regrets" because she said she does not like the word. She did explain, however, "Do I wish I handled it differently? Absolutely." The way her first marriage, as well as Cibrian's, ended years ago because of their infidelity left Rimes "ashamed and guilty."

"No one wants to hurt anyone or put themselves through hurt," she said. "I think the only other thing we could've done would have been to get out of our marriages before anything happened. It was tough, and it all happened very fast."
