Whitney Houston Dead: Police, Body at Hotel Room During Investigation
Police say Whitney Houston's body remained in the hotel room where a member of her entourage found her as investigators sought details about the cause of her death.
Beverly Hills Police Department spokesman Lt. Mark Rosen said a member of her entourage made an emergency call to hotel emergency personnel, according to the Beverly Hills Courier.
The Courier said Houston's room was on the fourth floor of the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
A separate report by CNN, citing comments from Rosen, indicated that it was unclear who in the entourage reported that Houston was found unresponsive, according to CNN.
Houston's bodyguard found Houston, said Courtney Barnes, a publicist for rapper Ray J, who was dating the star, according to CNN.
Rosen told People.com police received a call from hotel security at 3:43 p.m. and police responded minutes later. She was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m.
"Someone in her entourage found her unresponsive in her room ... It's unclear who notified hotel staff because she has quite an entourage here at the hotel. We attempted to resuscitate her, to no avail," Rosen said.
He said that "[A]t this time, there's no obvious evidence of foul play or cause of death.
Houston was set to perform at a pre-Grammy party on Saturday night.
Houston was seen in Hollywood Thursday night for a Grammy party, according to TMZ. The news site reported her final performance was a rendition of "Yes Jesus Loves Me."
