'Days of Our Lives (DOOL) Cast News: Alexander Bruszt Exiting As Fynn, New Doctor Coming To Salem? [VIDEO]
His brief romantic encounter with Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) has already fizzled because of her clear love for Steve (Stephen Nichols) and their family, and with no one else to really be anchored to, Fynn (Alexander Bruszt) will soon be saying goodbye to Salem on Days of Our Lives.
According to reports, Bruszt has wrapped up his time on the soap as Dr. Fynn, a friend of Daniel's who came to town shortly before his death, and afterwards, helped Brady (Eric Martsolf) with his visions of Daniel's life in California, leading to his tracking down Summer (Marie Wilson) and bringing her to town. Since then, he has also helped Kayla with her subdural hematoma, and helped when it came to trying to fight the virus Yau Ling unleashed on the city through Paul (Christopher Sean).
He most recently went with Kayla as she traveled to California to try and help Steve locate their son, Joey (James Lastovic), after he ran off with Jade (Paige Searcy), and the two even came close to making love in a hotel room. However, since then, things cooled and they went back to being strictly friends since he knows deep down Kayla wants Steve, even when she denies it. As a result, Fynn will soon make an exit from town.
The news that Bruszt (who's final screen time is reportedly slated for July) is leaving shouldn't come as a huge shock for fans since he was only supposed to be on the show for a limited amount of time last fall, after winning a contest which scored him the role. He was given a contract extension, likely to help with the Daniel/Brady/Summer storyline after Daniel's portrayer, Shawn Christian, opted to leave the show, but is now finished with his time in Salem.
However, those upset that the Salem hospital is now without an attractive young doctor in its midst don't need to worry, as a new doctor is likely to join the staff soon enough. Soap Opera Digest reports that the show has put out a casting call for a Dr. Caleb Cooper, a new contract role that is described as a man between the ages of 45-55 and good looking.
He is also described as living completely off the grid and keeping the truth about his past as a doctor a secret, since he is hiding from a traumatic tragedy. The role begins taping in August, and he should appear on screen early next year.
Days of Our Lives airs Monday_Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
