Katy Perry Sends Russell Brand Message from Grammy Stage
Newly single Katy Perry seemed to have an amicable split from comedian Russell Brand -- signing her divorce papers with a smiley face -- but she may have just been waiting for the perfect time and place to express her real feelings.
The singer performed her new song, "Part of Me," onstage at the Grammys, donning a skintight cat suit and sporting her signature blue hair. She tweaked the lyrics to relay a pretty obvious message.
"Now look at me, I'm sparking, a firework, a dancing flame. You won't ever put me out again. You chewed me up and spit me out. Like I was poison in your mouth. You took my light, you drained me down. You ripped me off, your love was cheap. Keep your diamond ring. In fact, you can keep everything ... Except for me."
The original lyrics read "Keep the dog," but Perry replaced the pooch with a diamond ring. Wonder why.
"Part of Me" is featured on the March 26 rerelease of Teenage Dreams: The Complete Confection.
