Starlet Selena Gomez is splitting The Scene -- the music scene, that is -- so she can make it big on the silver screen.

Gomez just wrapped up a South American tour with The Scene, but won't be recording with them for quite some time.

Gomez, who has several projects in the works, wants to focus on her film career this year and has left the band on good terms.

"My band and I are going our separate ways for a while. This year is all about films and acting and I want my band to play music wherever with whoever. We will be back, but it will be a good while. I love them and I love you guys," she wrote on her Facebook page on Saturday, adding that she was having a good cry over the breakup.

Their last album, 2011's When the Sun Goes Down, climbed to number three on the Billboard 200 chart and was behind the pop single "Who Says." The group has released three albums.

Gomez was last seen in the romantic comedy Monte Carlo, and will be lending her voice to Adam Sandler's upcoming animation vampire flick, Hotel Transylvania.

She's also cast in Spring Breakers, about college girls who rob a fast food joint to finance their vacation, alongside Vanessa Hudgens and James Franco.
