Psy 'Gentlemen' VIDEO Has 70 Million YouTube Views in 3 Days, Sets Record
The official music video for Psy's new single Gentlemen went past 70 million YouTube views on Monday, its third day of availability, proving that the South Korean rapper has more in him than just 2012's Gangnam Style.
Sources at YouTube said the Gentlemen video raked up 18.9 million views worldwide on the day of its release - April 13. When it premiered at 5 a.m. PDT, the 18.9 million views were received in less than 4 hours.
Gentlemen made the record for the most views of a video in in its first day on YouTube, according to the Billboard. At time of publication, its official video on YouTube had over 98 million views.
The sum is more than 8.3 million views greater than the current record holder of the VEVO 24-Hour Views list - Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj's Beauty and the Beat video, while earned 10.6 million views on Oct. 13, 2012. The report noted that on all of YouTube, the KONY 2012 video currently holds the record for the most views in a single day for any video, with over 30 million views in a 24-hour period.
Psy, born Park Jae-Sang, released the full audio for Gentlemen on Thursday and then had a live concert in Seoul where he performed the song for the first time. The song is already available for purchase on iTunes.
Gangnam Style is still the most-viewed video on YouTube. It debuted in the summer of 2012 and its official music video has over 1.5 billion views. Earlier in 2013 Psy collaborated with 2 Chainz, Tyga, Afrojack and Diplo on Gangnam Style remixes. Remix Style EP was released digitally on March 5. According to Republic, the reworked versions take the song "straight to the dance floor with propulsive production and uncontainable club energy."
